The
book sale is the Friends’ largest fundraiser, bringing in more than
$34,000 over 16 years, which has gone toward a number of special projects, two
of which are the digitization and preservation of local and university historic
materials and providing textbook scholarships to deserving students.
While
donations have been coming in, there is still a need for more books, CDs, DVDs,
video tapes, cassettes, and records. The items can be brought to the
Andruss Library Circulation Desk anytime the building is open, and if you
have a large number that need to be picked up please contact me at 4210 or by
email. The Friends are looking for all types of books, both
fiction and nonfiction, in GOOD condition, that would appeal to a
general audience, in addition to movies and music. Items
that do not sell well they would like to discourage include outdated
textbooks (more than ten years old), magazines, journals, encyclopedias,
and Reader's Digest condensed books.
The
Friends couldn’t have raised as much money as they have without your generous
donations so please give what you can. Thank you for your past
patronage and be sure to remember the Friends' spring book sale in October.
All are welcome. We hope to see you there!
