Photocopiers

The library will be switching the photocopiers on the 3rd and 4th floors so that they no longer accept coins to make copies. Instead, these machines will operate using your university ID cards (Husky Gold).  Please note that until we can install the new machines, the photocopiers on the 3rd and 4th floors will be unavailable.

Once the new machines are installed, the photocopiers on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors will all operate using Husky Gold.  The photocopier on the 1st floor will still accept coins.  Thank you for your patience as we make this switch.

Trial for Europa World Online

The library is currently hosting a trial for the online version of the Europa Yearbook.  Please ask at the Research Center for the username and password to take a look. Send your comments, either positive or negative, about the online version to Michael Coffta. The trial ends March 16.

Spotlight on... Brianna Vento

This is the next installment in a series of blog posts to help you get acquainted with some of the people who work in the library.  Today we introduce you to one of our student workers

What is your name?  Brianna Vento

What is your major?  Communication Studies

What do you do in the library?  I work in the Interlibrary Loan Department. I get books and journals from the library stacks. I proceed to package and ship the books, along with scanning some of them. I also open the mail, which usually consists of books being either returned or loaned to the university.

What do you enjoy most about your job?  I love how conveniently located my job is. Rather than traveling somewhere to work, the library is right on campus. If I have an hour break between my classes, it’s nice to just walk to the library. I also love having some time to myself. While scanning and getting books off the library stacks, I’m usually alone. Thus, it is nice to gather my thoughts, relax, and just have some time for myself. The money is always nice too!

What’s the best class you’ve taken at BU?  My favorite class so far at Bloomsburg University would be Conflict Management taught by Dr. La Valley.

What else do you want people to know about you?  I love sports! I consider myself to be very athletic, friendly, and fun!

100th Frequently Asked Question

Have a question regarding research or the Library?  Check out the Library's FAQ at the Library's web site to ask us anything! When you ask a question you will see previously prepared responses.  If your question has never been asked before, it will be sent to a research librarian for a thorough response.  Your question and answer will be anonymously entered into the FAQ to increase its value to students.

Today the Library recorded its 100th FAQ.  These FAQs are constantly updated as information, technology, services, etc. change.  This is a useful, growing resource for you to use!

Grant Funding Information

Did you know that one of the library's databases, Web of Science, lets you search for grant funding information?  On February 14, Katie Yelinek, one of the library's reference librarians, led a workshop on using Web of Science to search for grant funding information by topic, journal name, institution, and funding organization.  You can watch a recording of the workshop here (it's about 24 minutes long).
