Kanopy: Simple Access

Good news for Kanopy database users! Recently, Kanopy implemented an easier way to authenticate users called "Simple Access". This will make it easier for you to log in to stream your videos. Click on "Read More" to find out how!

What is Simple Access and how would it help me?

Simple Access is an authentication method that provides users with easier, error-free access to your Kanopy website and avoid common issues created by authentication systems. Like many other library databases, users cannot access a database easily without going through an authentication process that can cause many problems and errors for users.
This method will let you bypass through

How does it work?

  • When a user visits Kanopy website for the first time, they will be greeted by a holding page that alerts them of the library through which they are seeking to access the content (Bloomsburg University) and prompts the user to connection via Bloomsburg University authentication system. ***(Note: this is for off campus users only. If the users are on campus, this page will be skipped since they are on campus IP)***

  • A page then will pop up prompting the user to sing in via Bloomsburg authentication system which is your username and password
(an example)
  • If a user returns to the Kanopy website again on the same device and browser within the next 3 months, they will bypass through the connect process. After 3 months, the user will be forced to "re-connect" via step 1.
